The sharing of the Board Directors of Long Hai
Dear our valued customers and all Long Hai Staffs,
10 years have passed so quickly with many events. Some gave us full of joy but some made us worried and confused. After all, they are the past.
Only 1 landmark left after 10 years which is the development of Long Hai from a small enterprise to a national company, which products are well known and used among Vietnam’s consumers. That proves Long Hai – a great ship – could go far.
Today I am very touched and proud to be here to talk about what we have passed for 10 years with all valued customers and staffs then determine the strategic targets and vision for company to 2015
Long Hai Co.,Ltd was established exactly on this day 10 years ago ( 27th, September 2000) by Mr.Nguyen Huu Dung and I. Some colleagues with us at that time are:
- Mr. Doan Chi Phuong, Ms.Nguyen Thi Men, Mr.Phan Van Phong, Ms.Tran Thi Thuy and many people being here today. We are all working with the company for the past 10 years. On behalf of the company, I really thank you all and appreciate your support.
In difficult time, when jelly products are not familiar with Vietnam consumers, I am really greatful for the support and enthusiasm of first distributors of Long Hai as:
- Mr.Nguyen Trung Lan, from the Distributors Lam Bich – Thai Nguyen
- Mr.Nguyen The Tan, from the Distributor Thien Tan – Hanoi
- Ms.Nguyen Thi Men, from the Distributor Minh Men – Yen Bai
- Mr.Nguyen Quang Linh, from the Distributor Linh Ngat – Thuong Tin – Hanoi
- Mr.Trinh Quoc Dat, from company Thanh Dat – Thanh Hoa Province
- Ms.Pham Thi Bang from the Distributor Trung Bang – Quang Binh.
On behalf of the company, I am thankful for the support of the first distributors, who were always by our side in the past years, which is the premise for Long Hai to build up a professional distribution system with 105 distributors, 250 salesman directly trained and paid by Long Hai in 46 provinces among Vietnam from Dong Nai and the whole Highland to the North. They distribute Long Hai products to more than 40000 retail outlets in urban areas to mountain villages of Vietnam, provide products to 62 million consumers in Vietnam.

Last but not least, on behalf of about 20 staffs of the first establishment days, I need to express the deep thanks to Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Viettinbank) in Hai Duong Industrial Area. They helped us the the most difficult time – 2002 the bankruptcy stage, until today, the bank is always by our side, give us the fund advantages to make company be able to expand production, labors have stable incomes.
Ms.Nguyen Thi Khanh Thien – Manager of Long Hai Co.,Ltd
Dear honor guests and all Long Hai staffs,
On 27th, September 2000, Long Hai Co.,Ltd was established at my house, number 10/1 Bui Thi Xuan, Le Thanh Nghi Ward, Hai Duong City. The area is about 320 meters square. It is the result of 6 months in China to study and buy jelly technology and machines.
In March 2001, 2 jelly making machines were imported and 3 months later, they were installed successfully with other necessary equipments. 20 staffs at that time were happy with the release of the first products. Beside that happiness, it was my worry as the Manager of Long Hai Co.,Ltd.
The money which was saved by 2 brothers was invested in production. Now how to sale all the products to get money back to re-produce and pay salaries to staffs? This question was always in our minds, and we really did not know how to answer it. We were the newbie in this industry. We had not much knowledge about food industry. We just told each other that just jumping in the work, then the market would tell us what to do.
Food industry is difficult and severe. The first market we targeted to is Hanoi because it is a prosperous crowded city. In our thoughts, high income population would easily pay money for our products. Only after the shake of the heads of store owners at Hang Buom Street – the street has the most food kinds in the North, I realized that Hanoi is such a difficult market. People there would not easily accept a new product that is made from a rural area like Hai Duong province.
Leaving Hanoi, we were really worried about where and what to do to sell the products. How can we answer for this simple but also difficult question. After that, we came to almost all northern provinces to buy our products and sell as deposit. Happiness came to us as we were able to continue to work.
In June 2002, after 1 year of making the first products, we succeeded in convincing and deposit products to Distributor Trung Bang – Quang Binh province. But Long Hai had to face with the brink of bankruptcy at this time. Products of company were sold very little, only for some consumers who wanted to try new products. The big parts of unsold products were still in the warehouse of the distributors. The sadness and the worry came to Board of Directors, we had to stop to produce.
After months of travelling through provinces, listening to the sharings of the distributors, and bring products to targeted customers to taste and listen to their ideas, we faced with one big question: Why our products were not accepted widely while they follow strictly to Food Safety Requirements.
